What We Do
Making restorative sleep a reality
Our core offerings: A holistic approach to sleep recovery
Dreaming Beyond Trauma brings together three essential pillars of support—nourishing sleep packs, soothing sleep spaces, and specialist training for staff—designed to work in harmony. Together, they restore the conditions for rest, regulation, and recovery for families navigating trauma.
Each component can stand alone. But when offered together, they create something far more powerful:
A sleep-supportive ecosystem—where mothers and children feel calm enough to exhale, and the staff who care for them are more rested and resourced.
OUR CORE OFFERINGS
Nourishing sleep packs
Thoughtfully designed to calm the body, soothe the nervous system, and rebuild the rhythm of rest—for both child and mother.
Created by a sleep therapist with 20 years of clinical experience, these trauma-informed tools are grounded in real-world outcomes and early evidence. They help children develop the lifelong skill of falling asleep independently, while also supporting mothers with nurturing routines that promote nervous system regulation, emotional connection, and better-quality sleep.
Each pack includes:
- Weighted Blanket: Provides gentle pressure that calms the nervous system and supports the release of serotonin and oxytocin—helping both children and adults feel safe enough to rest.
- Soft Cloud Pillow: For comfort, grounding, and immediate sensory relief, offering a soft anchor that supports emotional and physical regulation.
- Eye masks: Helps create a sense of darkness and privacy, even in shared rooms—supporting melatonin production and reducing stimulation.
- Amber Clip Light: A portable lamp that protects melatonin levels, reduces stimulation and creates a calming environment.
- The Sleep & Dream Book: Beautifully illustrated with calming bedtime practices to foster emotional regulation.
- Drifting into Dreamland Audio: A gentle voice-led sleep companion that helps children unwind and fall asleep—while strengthening inner skills to support long-term rest.
- The Good Sleep Guide for Parents: Clear, practical guidance on easing evening struggles and improving sleep quality, drawn from evidence-based approaches in circadian science, emotional co-regulation, and sleep education.

Turning sleep spaces into sanctuaries
We turn overstimulating spaces into havens of safety and stillness.
For children and mothers healing from trauma, the sleep environment matters deeply. Bright lights can keep the nervous system alert—making rest difficult.
We partner with crisis accommodation services to gently transform bedrooms and common areas into calming, biologically sleep-supportive environments. These small but powerful changes help quiet the body, ease emotional distress, and make truly restorative sleep possible.
- Conduct sleep-focused assessments to identify barriers to rest.
- Provide sensory-based upgrades and calming tools—like amber lighting, weighted blankets, and soft light buffers—to create an atmosphere of comfort, safety, and peace
- Where possible, we also collaborate with local artists to bring beauty and dignity to the space through soothing, child-friendly artwork.
Training professionals in sleep-focused care
We support frontline staff and caseworkers with trauma-informed training that helps them guide women and children toward better sleep, emotional regulation, and long-term recovery.
Our training also helps staff care for their own sleep—because those who hold others need rest too.
Our training covers:
-
Supporting families with Sleep Packs: Introducing tools that foster calming rhythms, co-regulation, and sleep confidence for both children and carers.
-
Helping staff sleep better too: Practical, science-backed strategies to improve sleep and recovery—reducing burnout and improving emotional resilience.
-
Making sleep part of the care conversation: Using sleep as a gentle, non-threatening entry point to deeper healing.
-
Sustaining change: Ongoing mentorship and check-ins to ensure new practices take root and evolve.
